Give Your Space a Fresh Look:
You might think that it’s too far into spring to worry about freshening up your space, but it’s not. In fact, with summer still a few weeks away, now is a perfect time to mix things up. Here are some simple ways to freshen up your space for the brighter and warmer months ahead.
Rearrange Your Furniture
The spring and summer months are bright, breezy and inviting, which is something your home can reflect as well. If you made cozy areas for those fall and winter months, change it up to suit the new seasons. Think about rearranging your furniture to make a window your focal point instead of the fireplace.
Update the Accessories
Just updating the accessories in the room can easily create a fresh look. Change out throw pillows for ones in fun, bright colors and patterns. Store the winter throws and bust out the spring ones. Put out spring-hued vases and candles that reflect the season. Store the heavy tablecloth and replace it with a lighter table runner or even placemats. It’s amazing how little things like this can make such a visual impact on a space.
Minimize Clutter
The longer you stay in a place the more clutter seems to accumulate. If this has happened to you, look around your space. Can it stand to have some things purged out? This doesn’t mean you have to throw everything out, it just means that you might need to take the time to remove them from sight. Make room in cabinets to store knick-knacks or box them up until you need the place looking cozy again. Clutter carries into other rooms like the kitchen as well. If you have a fridge full of magnets, just minimizing the amount does wonders for airing out the space.
Adjust Lighting
This is two-fold. First, since the spring and summer months bring in more light than the fall and winter ones, swap out the wattage on your light bulbs. Second, clean those windows and pull back the window treatments. You could even change them out for shades or valances to let in extra light.
Lighten Your Bedding
If you don’t have the time or money to change out your entire bedding set, at least tuck away the heavy winter blankets and flannel sheets. Swap them out for thinner fabrics like crisp, cotton sheets. You could also change out your accent pillows for something that works better with the new season.
