Tired of the winter blues? Got a case of spring fever? Start planning your spring makeover! Here are four ways to bring spring into your home.
(1)Â De-clutter your space. Clutter may make your home look cozy, but in all reality, it sucks away energy and prohibits your space from having that airy feeling spring represents. If you have room, add some storage, whether it’s by building shelving or using decorative boxes or baskets to hide those little knickknacks that take up space. For items that aren’t truly sentimental, decide whether or not they are worth keeping at all. Sometimes, it’s best to purge your home of unnecessary items, rather than store them, but only you can decide what’s important.
(2)Â Focus on fabric. Fabric allows you to transform just about anything, so don’t overlook it as a vital tool in letting spring in. It can be something as simple as indulging in super-soft bed sheets to something as extravagant as reupholstering furniture. Silk and linen are especially spring-like, but if there is another fabric you prefer, then go for it. If you aren’t sure what texture or pattern would look best in your home, speak with an associate at a fabric store.
(3)Â Change your color scheme. Color is probably one of the easiest changes you can make as the seasons change. Whether you repaint your walls in colors that reflect spring or incorporate new colors through slipcovers, window treatments or accents around the home, color is a great way to change the mood to fit the season.
(4)Â Make little changes. A good place to start is by changing out the artwork on your walls. This doesn’t mean you have to change the artwork altogether. If you can swap out art with darker shades for art with lighter ones, great. If you can’t however, consider changing the frame it’s in to something casual. Another change you can make is by simply rearranging the furniture in your space. If possible, turn furniture to face windows or lighted and open areas. If you have a fireplace, cover it up with a screen and place a pretty flower or candle arrangement in front of it. In your dining room, change out your placemats or table runner for something springy.
These are just four of the many ways you can make those little changes throughout the house. Sprucing up your home to feel like spring doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to do unless you’re looking to make a complete overhaul. Just a few simple touches will help you surround yourself with all things spring!
