Designing Your Bedroom as a Couple Dallas

We all know that relationships require compromise. While some things are easily agreed upon, other things like home decor – specifically the bedroom – can be a bit more challenging. It really doesn’t have to be though. In fact, combining both of your styles can actually be fun and work well together, when approached in the right way. Here are some tips to help you get a bedroom you can both enjoy.

Combine Your Favorite Colors

What are your favorite colors? You’d be amazed at how many color combinations actually work together, so in most cases, two favorite colors can blend nicely in a single space. If you can’t find happiness within those color choices, stick with a neutral foundation and add each of your favorite colors in small pops throughout the room.  Selecting pillows and drapes with appropriately colored fabric is a quick way to add color.

Mix and Match Patterns

Just like colors, there are many patterns that blend very well together – including feminine and masculine ones. Incorporate a feminine touch with a floral accent wall or area rug and add masculinity with something like striped window treatments or a chair upholstered in plaid fabric. As long as you stick with no more than 3 patterns of a large, medium and small scale, you should be just fine.

Think Romantic, Yet Practical

You want romance in the boudoir, but there is no need to go overboard with the frills. In fact, too many frills like an abundance of candles or excessive window treatments can cause distraction and make the room feel stuffy. Save the candles for more special occasions and use soft lighting on a regular basis by way of bedside lamps, wall sconces, or an overhead light with a dimmer.

Hang Artwork You Both Love

One sure-fire way to make the bedroom enjoyable is by hanging pictures of places you love to visit. Have a favorite picture or two from a favorite vacation spot? Have it blown up and framed for your wall. There is no need to hang meaningless pictures on the wall when it is possible to make the space special with personal photos with great memories.

Getting Started

Before you get started, it’s a good idea to gather all of your likes together so you can determine what will work. A wonderful place to do that is online via Pinterest. Create a board together and pin things you both really love up there. This gives you a great visual, which will make putting all the pieces together for your bedroom much easier.
