Decorating Ideas that Cover the Fall and Winter Seasons Irving

When seasons change and temperatures drop it’s only natural that you and your family will want to spend more time indoors. And along with those changes in seasons often comes the desire to change the look of your home. With that said, sometimes you just don’t want to make multiple decorating transitions, but rather transitions that will work for longer periods of time. Here we’ll look at four decorating ideas that will span the fall-to-winter months.

Idea #1: Rearrange the furniture

You can create feelings of warmth and coziness just by rearranging your furniture. Pull furniture in from the walls and closer to the fireplace. Don’t have a fireplace? Simply arrange the furniture in a way that will create more intimate seating areas. Be sure to add more comfort by setting out extra accent pillows.

Idea #2: Add lots of layers

When we’re cold, we often reach for some extra layers of clothing to feel warm again. This same feeling can be brought into a room by adding layers. If you don’t have window treatments, add some. If you do, see if there’s a way to add more (i.e. heavier fabric over sheers). A layer of warmth can be added to the floor with a nice area rug. Pile up the blankets you keep on your bed. Have some soft and fuzzy throws stored away? Pull them out and drape them stylishly over pieces of furniture. You could even use a pretty blanket in lieu of a tablecloth on the dining room table.

Idea #3: Change the color palette

Changing wall color, as well as color on certain accent items, can really make a room look fit for a new season. Instead of focusing on strictly fall or winter colors however, find colors that will work with both seasons. Colors such as yellow, red, green, brown, blue, gray (or silver), purple and white are all good choices that will work well with both seasons.

Idea #4: Incorporate greenery

The beauty of evergreens is that they can be used all year round. Adding fresh garland to something such as your mantle, can offer both a beautiful look and scent perfect for any season. Adding something like seasonal fruit and pinecones to it will make it extra unique. An evergreen wreath is also another way to incorporate greenery into your home throughout these cooler months.
