Fall Home Decor Trends for 2013

As summer nears to a close, it’s time to start thinking about what’ll be hot in home decor this fall. From colors to fabrics & materials and things in between, here’s a look at what will be at the forefront this season.

Bold Colors

This fall is all about bold colors, and Pantone, the color experts, have released some beautiful colors to choose from. This year’s fall 2013 color report includes a versatile palette including Mykonos Blue, Linden Green, Acai, Samba, Koi, Deep Lichen Green, Vivacious, Turbulence, Carafe, and Emerald, the color of the year. Whether you choose from these, or just use them for inspiration in finding something similar, bold colors are worth incorporating into your home through paint, fabric, accents or whatever other vessels you can find.

Sustainability and Durability

Each year, it seems as though sustainable and durable products, made of natural materials, are more and more in demand. From ceilings to countertops to floors and even walls, raw and exposed products made of natural materials like stone, wood, cork and metal, will be desired in the home. Not only do they look great and last long, they help sustain the environment around us.

Graphic Patterns

Graphic patterns have been a hot trend for a couple of years now and it appears as though that’s not going to change. Chevron will still be a top pick, but so will patterns such as stripes, herringbone, houndstooth, large plaids, and anything geometric. While you can use graphic patterns to reupholster furniture, you can also incorporate it in smaller ways through items such as fabric draperies, area rugs, accent pillows and bed linen.

Touches of Brass

Light fixtures, faucets and accents like candle holders, lamp bases, or picture frames will be best when made of brass. The element is making a big comeback because it mixes well with other metals, making it the perfect trend to incorporate into your home.

Decking the Walls with Art

If you haven’t been taking advantage of the art fairs that pass through your town, maybe you should start. A great way to bring color and personality into your space, without costing a fortune, is by adding pieces of art. Whether it’s something inexpensive from a local artist, or something pricy bought from an art gallery showing, you can’t go wrong. This is a trend that will probably be around for quite a while.
